The Scotch Gambit and the King's Gambit Accepted are similar in that they both are focused on attacking f7 which is Black's weakest square. In the KG White weakens himself by moving the f pawn making for a strongly tactical game where Black has good chances of seizing the initiative and winning. In the SG White does not move the f pawn at all and thus has a more stable position and can thus attack Black with less chance of counter attack. Once Black takes that Pawn he finds himself in trouble because the Scotch Gambit is used to achieve favorable positions in the Giuoco Piano and the Two Knights Defense via "Desirable Routes." The best thing for Black is to avoid the SG by transposing to the Two Knights' Defense or the Guioco Piano. If Black does not transpose he will find himself in a difficult game wherein he becomes the brunt of a King Side attack.
After: 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 exd4 4. Bc4
This is the main line idea that White is aiming for!
1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 exd4 4. Bc4 h6 5. c3 dxc3 6. O-O cxb2 7. Bxb2 Be7
8. Qd5 d6 9. Qxf7+ Kd7 10. Be6#
{White mates} 1-0
After 4. ...Bb4+
4. ...Bc5 transposes to the Giuoco Piano
After 13. ...Nxe7 14. Nxe5! Qxe4 15. Bb5+ After 13. ...Kxe7 14. Qa3+ Ke8 15. Neg5!
After 8....Qf6 9Bg5 Qg6 10. e5! dxe5 11. Re1
After 11. ...Nge7 12. Bxe7 Nxe7 13. Nxe5
After 11. ...f6 12. Bxg8 fxg5 13. Bd5 After 11. ...e4 12. Bd5 Nf6 13. Bxc6+ bxc6 14. Ne5 Qh5 (14... .Qxg5 15. Qxf7+ Kd8 16. Nxc6#) 15. Bxf6 gxf6 16. Nxc6

Variation 2--9. ...Nf6 10. e5
Variation 3--9. ...f6 10. Bxg8 fxg5 11. Bxh7
4. ...Be7
After 4. ...Be7 5. o-o After 4. ...Be7 5. c3
After 5.... dxc3 6. Qd5 Nh6 7. Bxh6 0-0 (And White is a piece ahead--Not 7. ... cxb2 8. Qxf7#--not 7. ...gxh6 8. Qxf7#)
5... Nf6 6. e5 Ne4 7. Bd5 Nc5 8. cxd4 Ne6 9. Nc3 ( Game Examples) 4. ... Bc5 5. c3
5. ... d3 6. b4 Bb6 7. a4 a6 8. Bxd3
5. ...dxc3 6. Bxf7+ Kxf7 7. Qd5+ Ke8 8. Qxc5 Qe7 9. Qxe7+ Ngxe7 10. Nxc3
5. ... Nf6 transposes to Guioco Piano
4. ...d6 Transposes to Philidor's Defense
Now we can play against the Philidor as per the moves which the above link takes us to. But my idea is to continue with the Scotch Gambit moves-- 4. ... d6 5. c3 dxc3 6. O-O cxb2 7. Bxb2 and so forth.
